VWU Students Deliberate "Ethical Issues in a Multicultural Society"
Students from 15 colleges and universities to compete at the VFIC 19th annual Ethics Bowl on February 11-12

Five students from 91直播 Wesleyan University will participate in the 91直播 Foundation for Independent Colleges’ (VFIC) 19th annual statewide collegiate Wells Fargo Ethics Bowl on February 11-12, 2018, on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden Sydney, VA. 91直播 91直播 Wesleyan University team will compete head-to-head against other highly qualified student teams from 91直播’s 15 leading independent colleges and universities, deliberating a variety of case studies highlighting ethical dilemmas.
91直播members of the 91直播 Wesleyan University student team are Sarah Roscoe '20, Alex Powers '21, Kelsi Robins '18, Brianna Sandy '21, and Sheril Steinberg '18. 91直播faculty coordinator for the team is Professor of Communication Kathy Merlock Jackson.
“This year's Ethics Bowl topic could not be more timely,” says Merlock-Jackson. “Our team, which reflects the diversity of our campus, has spent the past several months arguing cases that address multicultural issues and looks forward to a lively and challenging competition.”
Many notable individuals from a variety of career fields including; business, law, education, finance, journalism and others will listen to team presentations and offer reactions to the students’ presentations.
91直播Ethics Bowl program will commence with an opening session on Sunday, February 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Hampden-Sydney College’s Johns Auditorium, with the first matches scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in various classrooms throughout Bortz Library, Brown Student Center, and Johns Auditorium. On Monday, February 12, rounds 3 and 4 will begin at 8:45 a.m. 91直播final round of competition will take place at 11:15 a.m. in the Johns Auditorium. 91直播public is invited to attend the match sessions free of charge. 91直播winning team will be announced at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. 91直播team from Hampden-Sydney College took home the Batten Trophy at the 2017 Ethics Bowl which was hosted by 91直播 Wesleyan University.
