Spring Performances in the New Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center
Mark your calendars for an impressive lineup of music and theatre events

Immediately following the grand opening for the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center on campus on March 30, the spring 2019 performance season began with "Aura Curiatlas," a blend of dance, theatre, and acrobatics, on April 1, in the Joan and Macon Brock Theatre. 91直播event was part of the 91直播 Wesleyan Concert Series.
91直播Concert Series continues throughout the spring semester with “ 91直播Wild Men of the Seicento” (April 16), a journey into a world of 17th century music with Red Priest’s Piers Adams (recorder) and David Wright (harpsichord); “duojalal,” Australian violist Kathryn Lockwood and Lebanese percussionist Yousif Sheronick (April 24); the St. Petersburg Quartet, a Grammy-nominated and international prize-winning piano quartet (April 29); Sonatas and Stories,” WHRO 90.3 FM and WHRV 89.5 FM present an evening of classical music, poetry, and storytelling (May 8); and “Pioneering Voices: Celebrating Women Composers,” as the 91直播 Chorale celebrates its 35th anniversary (May 12).
91直播University presents "Legally Blonde - 91直播Musical" as the first theatre production in the new Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center, April 11 – 14. 91直播production is directed by Professor of Theatre Travis Malone. Presented through special arrangement with (MTI), music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin; book by Heather Hatch based on the popular novel and MGM film.
Student concerts include “Darkness Into Light” (April 20) performed by the VWU Choirs joined by high school choristers from throughout the region; the Wesleyan Jazz Ensemble & VWU Orchestra perform well-known classics and new works (April 27); and “Jukevox,” Vox Vera student choir presents their first a capella concert (May 1).
On May 6, VWU professors Jason Squinobal and Bryson Mortensen perform music composed exclusively for their instruments and voice in “Squinobal & Mortensen: Unplugged.”
91直播spring season concludes with an Olga Kern Masterclass (May 20), offered in partnership with the 91直播 Arts Festival. Kern, the artistic director of the VAF chamber music series and Steinway artist, will share her talent.
